Sporta has opened a new office facility in Edinburgh and has appointed a new Scottish officer and a new Adviser for Scotland. Our new office facility is at The Melting Pot in Rose Street, where Kirsty Cumming has begun work as our first Scottish Policy and Projects Officer. Sir John Elvidge has also begun as our Adviser on Scottish matters. 

This is a major strengthening of of our ability to support Scottish trusts at a time when policy and business agendas are certain to develop more rapidly and significantly - with the following on from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and  the Independence Referendum.

Free update workshops regarding the Sporta and Sport England, Make Your Move programme, are taking place for Trusts to attend. £1.8m of funding ring fenced for Sporta Trusts! Friday 8th November - 11am to 1pm - Old Street, London Monday 11th November - 1.30pm to 3.30pm - Huddersfield Find out everything you need to know, changes, tips and what we have learnt so far (or just come for a coffee) at the workshops delivered by Sporta.

Sporta's 'Time to Trust' seminar - for local authorities and trusts - will be held on 1st October at Winckworth Sherwood, near London Bridge. There will a range of speakers from leading trusts and external experts. It provides a great opportunity to catch up with new developments and useful advice. Costs for the day are £95 for first delegate, £85 for second delegate. There is a discounted rate available for members of Sporta, CLOA and CIMSPA.

The Sport England lottery funded Make Your Move programme, is due to see it's first Trusts start delivery as part of the pilot phase. Announcements are due at the official Sporta and Sport England launch planned for 21st November, and the release of the first funding round is due then too. Sporta will be holding a Sports Development Forum on 29th May at the City of Manchester Stadium from 10am - 4.30pm. Speakers on the day include James Steel from Sport Scotland, Lee Preston from Manchester City Council and Richard Saunders, Chairman of the County Sports Partnership Network.
