Sporta's next General Meeting will be held on 22nd September in Birmingham. Further information including details of a probable dinner the evening before to be circulated soon.
Sporta enjoyed a successful AGM on May 12th at the Eldon Leisure Centre in Newcastle. Guest speakers included Dr Andrew Murray and Mike Hall from FaulknerBrowns Architects. Presentations were made by Michelle Childs from Life Leisure and Cate Gillingwater gave a round-up of the Make Your Move programme. During the afternoon session, members discussed trust development and programmes for 2015/16. Presentations from the AGM are available to view here (login required).
The Make Your Move website 'impact' page has been redesigned and is now live containing some of the learning from the programme so far. Learning includes project case studies, participant story films, infographics, independent evaluation from BDRC Continental, with more to come. Make Your Move seeks to fund sporta member trusts to recruit inactive people into physical activity and/or sport. Further evidence and evaluation will also be shared at the sporta AGM in May with members. Please do visit the Make Your Move website to find out more about the £2.1m programme.
Five participant stories have been launched from the sporta Make Your Move programme, funded by Sport England Lottery Funding. Stories are always very powerful, emotive and honest and they play a role in demonstrating what charitable social enterprises like sporta members, can deliver in and with communities. The story films form a valuable part of our ongoing evaluation through Make Your Move, regarding recruiting inactive people into sport and / or physical activity. This learning will be shared internally within the sporta association, Sport England and wider partner organisations.
