SPORTA UK trusts across the UK celebrated ten years of creating healthier, thriving communities at a glittering 'BAFTAs' of leisure’s charitable industry in Bournemouth.
Hosted by BH Live at the historic Pavilion Theatre, BBC sports presenter Garry Richardson introduced charitable trusts large and small to toast a decade of work under the banner of SPORTA UK managing sport, leisure and culture facilities and services across the country.
Sporta's next General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 21st September at the NEC, Birmingham. Booking forms for the meeting and a draft agenda have been circulated to members. Further details will follow.
Congratulations to Sporta member Gravesham Community Leisure Limited (GCLL), winners of the YMCA Employer of the Year award in the category of small to medium business. The award was presented to Managing Director Rob Swain and Head of HR Helen Lake at the House of Commons in the presence of the MPs, business leaders, learners and supporters from across the UK. Rob Swain said – “We are thrilled to win such a fantastic, national award but our ethos as a company is to provide a platform for staff members to break out further into the industry using the skills and qualifications gained whilst employed at GCLL and to help provide the next generation of leisure industry professionals”.
The Nantwich Outdoor Brine swimming pool has been recognised as a centre of excellence by Trip Advisor. The unique facility, which is operated by Everybody Sport and Recreation in Cheshire East, is a very popular venue with local families and athletes alike. This prestigious award follows previous accolades for the pool including it being named as one of The Telegraph's Best Outdoor Pools in 2014.The venue is open throughout the summer until October.
